36 Weeks & Nursery Update

I should just call this "Watch my face get fatter."  And moving on...

We are almost completely done with the nursery. It's definitely ready for a baby, there are just a few decorative things I would still like to do, like finish and hang the mobile I've been working on, hang up some picture memory boards, etc. But other than that, the essentials are done. All the baby bedding and clothes have been washed, folded, and organized. And we finally have a dresser/cube storage thanks to my parents who were in town this weekend. A big thank you to them for helping us put stuff together!

Just one of those bins holds all the extra onesies. I found the lamp and shade at Target that is literally the exact same color as the wall.
We were finally able to wash our fitted sheets and put them on the mattress. You can see some picture boards on the floor that we still need to hang.

The thermal curtains we went with. They'll keep the room nice and dark and cool during the summer and warm during the winter.

There's the hamper we got from my shower from my co-workers. It works so well in the room!

On The Menu: Cheesy Chicken Roll Ups

I found this recipe on Pinterest via a blog called Jenna's Journey. She has even more step-by-step photos of this process on her blog, so head on over if you need clarification. I will note that this is not a healthy recipe, so if you're looking for that...look elsewhere. I would suggest you serve it with something green on the side, though! My recipe deviates slightly from Jenna's, so here's what I did:

Ingredients:
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 8oz package cream cheese
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese
- kosher sea salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon minced chives
- garlic salt to taste
- 1 tube Pilsbury butter flake crescent rolls
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)

Note: I had way more filling than I did crescent rolls. I think the original recipe calls for the giant crescent rolls. But since we had a lot of extra filling, we piled it on top of wheat thins and ate it as a snack. I actually had to get Scott to stop eating the snack so he would have room for the meal.

Directions:
- Boil chicken breasts for about 40 minutes - you can take them straight out of the freezer and into the boiling water.

- While your chicken is boiling, set out your cream cheese block to soften and add salt, pepper, garlic salt, and chives.

- Remove your chicken from the boiling water and shred into tiny pieces. Preheat your oven to 350° F.

- Combine chicken with your cream cheese and add in all of your shredded cheese.

- Spoon the mixture onto the tops of your flattened crescent roll triangles and roll up into little packages.

- Brush with melted butter (optional) and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes (if you're using the smaller, standard size crescent rolls).

- Enjoy while cheese is nice and melty!

Quick Nursery Update

I'm sorry I don't have much for you. I feel like we've been so busy and there just isn't enough time to get everything done that needs to get done! We're making slow and steady progress on the nursery. The crib has no bedding on it because we have yet to get a waterproof mattress pad and I have yet to wash all the sheets and blankets. However, I am so glad my sweet in-laws were able to bring it up for us last weekend so we could put it together. Okay, I had nothing to do with putting it together, but it's still a nice thing to have done.

My to-do list includes: getting curtains, painting the inside of the closet, getting a dresser and lamp, washing all the baby clothes, sheets, and blankets, and of course organizing ALL THE THINGS... Just a few more weeks to get everything done.

32 Weeks

It's not weight I've gained...I prefer to think of it as mass (Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia would agree). I'm generally feeling pretty good other than the general complaints of having to roll out of bed in the morning like a manatee.

In other exciting news, my giant Christmas Amaryllis finally opened up...a few days late.  But that's okay, because it's still pretty, and I'm always excited when I can actually make something grow. I planted this bulb in late November and it finally bloomed over the weekend:

Although I'm going to need to find a new spot for it because now we can't get into our cupboards above the microwave. Each shoot has four blooms on it, and only one of the shoots has opened. It's going to be pretty impressive when all 8 have opened. The color is so vibrant - makes me happy!

Finally, in the last bit of exciting news, since I got such great feedback on my foxes I did for the nursery, I did another set for sale in my etsy shop, along with a few other cute animal illustrations. So feel free to hop on over to my etsy shop or click the button on my sidebar to view and purchase!

PS - these come matted and framed - a great deal!
